Poem for July 17, 2017

[Uranus in Aries, Mercury in Leo, Saturn in Sagittarius]

fire fidgets
in palms, anxious
to yank heart
from chest, blood
from womb, light
from dust - ashen
saliva on stone.

release
and cauterize
flickering flesh.
sew bones into
wicks, curling
wax bridges
and light
them
up

- in spite
of herbal breath
or swollen spine,
past singed
pyramids and shrines -
to burn, to build,
to manifest.
